I miscarried the dream of you,
Mistaking it for heartbreak;
The newly gestated emotion implanted in my psyche;
Fetal love;
A promise of grand and triumphant birth,
Lost.
But instead of blood,
Iron tinged and clotted,
I expunged the dream with
Salt tears.
Goodbye peacock,
Strutting towards your destiny,
Tail feathers high and proud.
Goodbye alligator baby,
Snapping instinctively,
Thrashing back into your pond,
Goodbye my lovely,
My golden, my oh so
Swollen
Dream…
I exhale you,
Set you free
As I turn my face
To the warm and rising sun.
